About Us
AGAPI is a beautiful Greek word meaning “love”. Love is at the foundation of everything we do, inspiring us to help others, ourselves, and each other. Read on for our vision, mission, and our story of how we came to be.
“We are a group of volunteers, who believe passionately in helping the poor and vulnerable of any race or religion…“
Our Vision
Our Vision is an international partnership of Christians, members of all faiths or of no faith who believe the human race is one family working together with compassion for the poor and oppressed, promoting freedom, justice, hope, dignity and peace for all, protecting and sustaining our natural environment and celebrating the diversity in human personality, contribution and culture.
Our Mission
Our mission is to walk alongside the poor and vulnerable of any race or religion, in providing services for their support and welfare.
Our Story
How We Got Started
We are a group of passionate individuals working together to help those in need and who are most vulnerable in Limassol, Cyprus. It all started from St Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church in Limassol. In 2012, Dolores Savvides and Margaret Irving (sadly deceased) were requested by the Parish Priest to set up a branch of an international charity in Limassol for the benefit of the poor, migrants and asylum seekers. Margaret and Dolores selected another eight persons from the parish all from different countries and this became the original team:

Dolores Savvides
Margaret Irving
Ludy Michael

Mariola Wenda
Teresa Andreou

Ruby Nearchou

Claire Loizides
Margaret Kyriakou
Irma Arancibia
Eliana Fakhoury
In 2016, this team decided to leave the international charity and to set up its own Association with its own objectives operating only in Limassol and AGAPI Cyprus was born.
